Enterprise to Mac Conversion

Switching from Windows to Mac is a big decision, and one of the most common concerns we hear is what happens to the years of accounting data sitting in a QuickBooks Enterprise file. QuickBooks for Mac and QuickBooks Enterprise are fundamentally different products — different file formats, different feature sets, different underlying architecture. You can’t just copy an Enterprise file onto a Mac and open it. It doesn’t work that way, and Intuit doesn’t provide a direct migration path between the two.

There are some important things to know going in. QuickBooks for Mac doesn’t support every feature that Enterprise offers. Advanced Inventory, Advanced Reporting, and some of the deeper customization options in Enterprise don’t have Mac equivalents. We’ll review your file before we start and let you know if anything in your data relies on features that won’t carry over directly. In most cases, we can restructure those elements so the data is still accessible, just organized differently to fit within what the Mac version supports.

The conversion typically takes a couple of business days. You upload your Enterprise file through our secure link, we handle the conversion and run verification checks to make sure the data is accurate, and then you download a file that’s ready to open in QuickBooks for Mac. If you’re also changing QuickBooks versions as part of the move — say, going from an older Enterprise to the latest Mac release — we handle that in the same conversion so you don’t have to deal with multiple steps.
